Our Expertise

Emily Todd, MD

Dr. Emily Todd is a pediatrician and medical geneticist with extensive experience in the health and development of children, particularly those with special needs. She founded Comprehensive Adoption Medicine Consultants to help families navigate the medical side of the adoption journey.

While attending Rush Medical College, Dr. Todd received awards for her work in genetics as well as recognition from her peers for excellence in humanism. After receiving her Medical Doctorate, she moved to Denver, CO where she completed her pediatric residency at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. Following pediatric residency, Dr. Todd completed advanced training in medical genetics at Children’s Hospital Colorado.

Her interests in medicine focus on demystifying genetics for families and primary care providers as well as health maintenance and disease prevention for children.  Dr. Todd finds adoption medicine to be a wonderful blend of pediatrics and genetics and loves helping families understand the medical and developmental needs of the adopted child.

In addition to the work she does with individual families, Dr. Todd strives to bridge the gap between the medical and adoption communities to best serve the child. She does frequent teaching and lectures at a local and national level on a variety of medical and developmental topics relating to adoption.  Dr. Todd also currently serves as the Contributing Section Editor for the Council on Foster Care, Adoption and Kinship Care for AAP Grand Rounds, a professional journal of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
